Sunday 15th May in the garden of The Rugglestone Inn, from 2.30pm.
"What a triumph yesterday was!!
I guess you were busy meeting and greeting etc but it must have been so gratifying to
see how many people were there and what a lovely atmosphere there was.
Well done to you and your crew!"
Bridget
"What a brilliant day! Thank God there were no choppy waters and no one got swept away. The water was calm, the sky was blue and there was barely a breath of wind. Did you feel any wind?
I only saw one dodgy pirate - but just our Tone - and I kept my treasure firmly in my back pocket. So well done my hearty!"
Brenda
"Your first Regatta [next year?] was great fun. You and the Inn did a splendid job. The whole afternoon had the feel of being at a lovely garden party with entertainment. Beautiful weather, and what a turn out. You must have been really pleased that so many people came.
My only complaint was that my raffle tickets followed on from the ones that the couple that wore life jackets had bought - only joking!
Anyway, a huge thank you and all the staff at The Ruggle for a lovely afternoon.
Lots of love
Frances & the BOYZxx"
We were very lucky that the Mariners Away Shantymen from South Zeal (the most inland village in Devon) performed the opening set for us (see picture above). Singer songwriter Adelia from the edges of Exeter, (click the link to see her sing 'Rapunzel' on You Tube), Denbury Folk from... Denbury, singers from Bovey Harmony, Sigford band 'Up The Creek!' and our very own Widecombe Singers.
An unannounced addition - and a real highlight of the afternoon - was a duet from Sandra and Annabelle of the Lost Sound Chorus.
JAR finished the afternoon for us with their usual mix of rousing songs and jokes.
There were crewmembers from Teignmouth Lifeboat on hand in case of Stormy Weather, but we could not have asked for a calmer and sunnier day.
The raffle was very kindly supported by the Rugglestone Inn, the Old Inn and the Cafe on the Green with vouchers for eating and drinking. Other items were donated by Teignworthy Brewery, Dartmoor Brewery and Widecombe Sailors.
Winning tickets that belonged to people who had to go early were:
Yellow: 526
Blue: 38
Blue: 482
Prizes still to be claimed are:
Gift pack from the Dartmoor Brewery
Book about the Titanic
Set of 4 coasters.
Please see the attached gallery for photos of the day. If there aren't many when you look, come back again later - more will be added!
