Two of the British folk scene’s top performers have teamed up for some duo/double header shows to perform their own and each other’s music. Since Luke Daniels's landmark solo statement What's Here What's Gone in 2014, he's put down several more markers on the musical map. Revolve and Rotate had him transporting the 19th century's closest thing to hi-fi, the giant steel discs of the polyphon, to modern transcription. All of this, in the context of a career playing melodeon for acts like Jethro Tull and Riverdance. If you want to know about Luke's work with the polyphon, please click here. And here's a bit of the duo playing alongside the polyphon.
Nancy Kerr is one of the most celebrated folk musicians of her generation, and has to date won 6 Folk Awards from BBC Radio 2: 2015 Folk Singer of the Year • Horizon Award 2000 • Best Duo 2003 and again in 2011 with James Fagan. No doubt she is best remembered by lots of us for the performance she gave in Widecombe with James Fagan, her husband, in 2016.
This new duo show promises to be a stunning mix of contemporary folk music and inspired instrumental virtuosity. And something a bit different!
