Ange Hardy & Lukas Drinkwater

Ange and Lukas came to The Cafe on the Green on Wednesday 28 June.

We first saw Ange a year ago and were utterly blown away by her singing and playing. Instantly we asked if she would like to come to Widecombe and she said 'yes'. Since then I've spoken to a number of people who all say the same thing and the consensus is that Ange is destined for great things.

And now for the  You Tube link: By The Tides. Here's another: The Bow to the Sailor I hope you appreciate the nautical themes in these two songs... A mere coincidence. Oh dear. Just realised what a terrible pun that is. (Mere: pond, lake, body of water. Also it's a Maori war club but I wasn't referring to that meaning).

Here are a few comments from Widecombe Sailors and one from Ange herself:

Just come back from Widecombe Sailing Club where I saw the mesmerizingly good Ange Hardy and Lukas Drinkwater. Watching live music is always a pleasure, but tonight was something very special. I am in awe. - Ann

Thanks for yet another great WSC evening in the Café.  It was all lovely - the music, food and attentive audience.  Must have been good one, as I bought a CD. Thanks for all your hard work on putting on these evenings - I certainly appreciate what you do - you're no longer just another 'folkie' fan in the wilderness. - Frances

Thanks Daf, what a great night was had by one and all, superb concert - John

You’ve done it again !!!!!!!
Excellent evening last night,
Those two were again of such high standard…..a delight to listen to ..and ..to watch.
Very good company all over the room….the food was just right ( as usual more than I can cope with but they supplied me with a doggy bag) - Ros

Dear Daf thanks for a fantastic evening with Ange and Lukas. You created a great atmosphere with candlelit sociable tables and we met some great people! - Jacqui
ps please put me on mailing list for folk nights.

Thank you for a fantastic night last night, and the food was fabulous tooo!!!!! - Dawn

Angie Hardy and Lukas Drinkwater at the Café on the Green – The whole performance was captivating – Angie’s voice and range was uniquely mesmerising and Lukas’ accompaniment completely complimentary - the acoustics at the venue were perfect - Jillian & David

Hi Daf - thanks for another good night on Wednesday: I think the duo were excellent - Chris

Hi there
I’ve been to a lot of folk concerts, all around Brixham and south Devon and even the Albert Hall.
Although some I go to under sufferance as I  tend to be the hanger on/chauffeur for my husband, who is the real groupie.
So I was chuntering about driving all the way to Widecombe on an evening.
But had to eat humble pie....
What a great evening, loved the easy parking, the venue, the supper was superb, great atmosphere, sound and lighting (excellent compere)
And thought Ange Hardy was brilliant, I just loved her personality, her chats, her voice and musical talent and repartee with Lukas and his sense of humour as well as his guitar playing.
Brilliant night.
Thank you - Jill

An incredible and particularly special evening at Widecombe Sailing Club last night, huge thanks to Daf and the team who worked tirelessly to create an amazing atmosphere, fill the place to overflowing, feed us all and look after us beautifully. Lovely, lovely audience, friends old and new, lots of people coming having been recommended by a friend... word of mouth works! So a big Thank you to everyone who came and to everyone who helps to spread word  - Ange

And now for the photos - all taken by Official Paparazzo to the Widecombe Sailing Club: Andrew Lester
